Anees Ahmad is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics at Chongqing University, China (2024-Present). He completed his Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Environmental Sciences (2020-2022) from Government College University Lahore, Pakistan, where his thesis focused on the Techno-economic and Environmental Assessment of Bio-fertilizer Production from Food Waste in Lahore City. Before that, he earned a Master of Science (MSc) in Environmental Science (2017-2019) from the University of Peshawar, Pakistan, with a research focus on the Socio-Economic and Environmental Impact Assessment of Trophy Hunting of Markhor in District Chitral. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biological Sciences (2015-2017) from Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Dir Upper, Pakistan.

Anees Ahmad has extensive experience in sustainability, energy systems, and environmental assessment. He worked as a research assistant for two years at the Sustainable Development Study Centre, contributing to life cycle analysis, project management, and techno-economic feasibility studies. He has been involved in various national and international development projects, including the technical assessment of bio-pellets plant design for Bio Energy Ventures Limited and the environmental performance assessment of solid waste management facilities for the World Bank and Environmental Protection Department (EPD), Punjab. Additionally, he has contributed to the initial environmental examination of a water rehabilitation project in collaboration with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Asian Bank. His research leadership is evident in his role as a Co-Investigator in a King Khalid University-funded project on plastic waste gasification for syngas and electricity generation using life cycle modeling.
