Dr. Zigmunds Orlovskis earned a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the John Innes Centre and the University of East Anglia, UK, under the supervision of Prof. Saskia Hogenhout, from 2012 to 2017. Prior to this, Zigmunds Orlovskis completed a Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours in Ecology at Cardiff University, UK, from 2009 to 2012.

Dr. Orlovskis is currently a Principal Investigator at the Latvian Biomedical Research & Study Centre, a position he has held since 2021. Since 2020, he has also served as a Lecturer in the Department of Plant Physiology at the University of Latvia. Previously, he was an SNSF Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, from 2017 to 2020, and a PhD Researcher at the John Innes Centre, UK, from 2012 to 2017.
