Education
Anne Omwoyo is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Dryland Resource Management at the University of Nairobi since October 18, 2021. Prior to this, she obtained a Master of Science Degree in Climate Change from the University of Nairobi, spanning from September 1, 2015, to September 22, 2017. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor of Environmental Studies – Science from the University of Eldoret, where she graduated on December 3, 2013. Throughout her education, Anne has shown a keen interest in environmental studies, climate change, and now focuses on the management of dryland resources.
HONOURS AND AWARDS
Ms. Anne Omwoyo, Director of the System for Land-based Emission Estimation in Kenya (SLEEK), received the Clinton Foundation Scholarship on June 29, 2015. This scholarship enabled her to pursue a Master of Science in Climate Change from the University of Nairobi. Later, she was granted a fellowship in the Policy Track under the NDC-FFP 2020/2021 category for Certified Expert in Financing Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) from the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management and the African Research & Impact Network on September 24, 2020.
NETWORKS AND MEMBERSHIPS
Ms. Anne Omwoyo has been serving as a National Roster Expert for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) since December 13, 2022. She is a Climate Policy Expert under Article 6.4 of the Paris Agreement , contributing significantly to the Supervisory Body. In Kenya, she holds the position of Lead EIA /EA Expert at the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) , focusing on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Environmental Audit (EA). She’s an active member of the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA) and the Environment Institute of Kenya (EIK) since 2014.
DIGITAL SKILLS
Ms. ANNE OMWOYO is proficient in Microsoft Office, ESRI ArcView GIS, and remote sensing tools such as ENVI. She is skilled in R, QGIS, Idrisi, TerrSet, and ENVI, with expertise in climate data operations. Anne is experienced in climate modeling, encompassing both Global Climate Models and Regional Climate Models. She specializes in greenhouse gas inventories and Climate Risk Vulnerability Assessment (CRVA4 – Current). With her diverse skill set, she brings a comprehensive approach to climate analysis and environmental research.

Ms. ANNE OMWOYO has a rich and diverse educational background in environmental management and climate change. Her recent certifications include a Certificate of Proficiency in Nature-based solutions to emerging water challenges from the Centre for International Postgraduate Studies of Environmental Management (CIPSEM) in Dresden, Germany , and a Climate Governance, Diplomacy, and Negotiations Leadership Program from the African Group of Negotiators Experts Support (AGNES) in Nairobi, Kenya . Anne has also completed programs such as Operationalising Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and a Certificate of Proficiency in Technical Review under the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) of the Paris Agreement with the United Nation Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Her expertise is further enriched by various courses and certifications in greenhouse gas management, financing national determined contributions (NDCs), strategic leadership development, and project planning and management.
