Prof. Riheb Hadji embarked on his academic journey by earning a Secondary Baccalaureate in Natural Sciences from LFT Tebessa in June 1993, achieving a commendable mention. He pursued his passion further, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Geology from the University of Tebessa in June 1998, with another laudable mention. Continuing his academic pursuits, he obtained his DEA in Engineering Geology from the same university in June 2000, maintaining a strong academic record. His dedication was recognized when he received his Magister in Engineering Geology from the University of Tebessa in March 2005 with honors. Driven by a quest for knowledge, he completed his second post-graduate degree, a Doctorate in Geology, with high distinction from the University of Annaba in October 2013. Rising in academia, he became a Lecturer with HDR in Geology at the University of Tebessa in May 2016. Finally, in July 2021, he reached the pinnacle of his academic career, becoming a full Professor in Earth and Planetary Sciences, accredited by the MESRS. 📚🎓

Professor Riheb Hadji has been extensively involved in researching and addressing natural risks in various regions of Algeria. 🌍 His work includes the identification, characterization, and mapping of natural risks in Tebessa, Setif, and Mila, assessing hazards such as landslides and their impact on development and the environment. Over the years, he has focused on mapping major risks in Northeast Algeria and implementing prevention measures, notably in the Souk Ahras region. Moreover, his studies extend to adapting socio-economic development to climate change, water stress, soil erosion, and geological risks through territorial intelligence strategies. In recent research, he explored reinforcing civil engineering structures with Fiber-Reinforced Polymers (FRP) materials using the Near-Surface Mounted (NSM) technique, emphasizing innovative solutions to mitigate risks and enhance infrastructure resilience. 🏞️🔍

Prof. Riheb Hadji’s research from 2015 to 2019 focused on analyzing landslide activity in relation to climatic conditions in the Souk Ahras region of Northeast Algeria. He then delved into the use of multi-band images and Geographic Information System (GIS) for estimating and mapping soil susceptibility to water erosion in semi-arid areas, with a case study of the Mellegue watershed. Subsequent studies involved discriminating geological and structural units of the Nememchas mountains using space technologies, and developing a methodology to support mining galleries in the Boukhadra underground mine. His ongoing PhD research explores mapping landslide risks in the Algerian-Tunisian border region, estimating and mapping water erosion and sediment transport in the Bousselam watershed, and conducting a multidimensional assessment of water erosion, sediment transport, and reservoir siltation in the Senegal River basin using Geomatics tools. 🏞️🌍
